My family and I are living in a nation that says it is Christian. 95% or more of the people say that they are born-again believers and serve God. Isn’t it interesting that a “Christian” nation would have the worst HIV/AIDS rate in the world?

Psalm 2 is why we have a global missions movement; it is the chapter in the Bible that best describes why we must “go” and make disciples. It is why in the New Testament, He doesn’t say “worship” me but says “follow” me into dark and risky places…

Psalm 2, verses 1 – 3, says: “Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The Kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against his Anointed one. Let us break their chains and throw off their fetters.”

What a description of nations united against God. They want to throw away their God bonds; anything that connects them to the Lord.

Verse 4 is my favorite: “The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.” The Almighty says, “How absurd” (Acts 4:26. John and Peter describe these verses as they are freed from prison and the saints are filled with the Spirit). The Lord rebukes them and then in verse 6 says: “I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill. I will proclaim the decree of the Lord: He said to me, You are my Son; today I have become your Father.” (Acts 13:33) I love God’s language here –
King talk – “installed MY King, on MY Holy hill.”

And here we go – verse 8 says: “Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance.” Inheritance is a family word, father talking to a son. “The ends of the earth your possession.” Sons and daughters wholly possessed with taking the nations back for the Lord and believing that they can!

Moses got to do verse 9, which says: “You will rule, (or break), them with an iron scepter (Revelation 19:15); you will dash them to pieces like pottery” ( Rev 2:26-27).

And then, in verse 10, God Himself lays it down: “Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. Serve (or worship, Psalm 149) the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling (this is the only safe place). Kiss the Son, lest He be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for His wrath can stir up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.”

There are 255 nations in the world; our commandment is to teach them how to “Take refuge in Him.”
