My family and I, that’s right all 8 us, are headed for Matamoras, Mexico today to serve the poor. From my 3 year old to my 15 year old, I am going to show them that Jesus lives among the people in the trash heaps.

I want to ask you two things; can I have your son or daughter when they are done with high school, just for one year before they go off to college or whatever God is calling them too? Maybe they are already in college and they can take a year to run with us.
Second, will you take your spring break, or one summer every couple years, and take your whole family on a mission’s trip with us?

The reason I ask is simple… we have a generation that is spoiled, bored, and the reason they are bored is because they are boring! We have entertained our children to death, and we have not asked enough of them. We, the baby boomers and Gen Xers, have taught them that is all about them, and guess what? It’s not!!

The art of Initiation has been lost in coddling and wanting everybody to feel good. The message we have to get deep into their hearts is. 1. Life is hard. 2. You are not that important. 3. Your life is not about you. 4. You are not in control. 5. You are going to die.

We will talk more about “The art of Initiation” later. My heart here is to take your children, grandchildren and teach them that life is not about them.

True discipleship away from home and missions trips as a family to the poor of the earth, will set them on a course to live for
something that is much bigger then they are, and it will bring your family “Fully Alive”!

So, please, as you’re planning your next family vacation, talk to me first, I will give you the best vacation you could ever imagine…
