My kids and I are going through Heidi Bakers book, “There is always enough” a book about their orphanages, churches and miracles in Africa. We were reading chapter 5 last night and the number one paragraph that stood out to all my kids was the following;
“Daybreak at Zimpeto brings to our ears the purest sound we know; simple children singing praises to Jesus with all their hearts. Even with us, they are still so poor. They have one or two changes of clothes and almost no possessions. They eat with their fingers. They play in the dirt. Their school is a hut with a thatched roof. And they love each other. They smile, laugh, and jump with excitement. They are on their way to heaven and they know it. They are safe in Jesus and they feel loved. And so they are among the richest people on earth! They dance with angels in visions and are taken to see the King on His throne. They intercede on their faces for the nation of
Mozambique
. They testify fearlessly before street gangs and government ministers. They are the key part of God’s solution for the poorest country on earth”!
Each one of my children are beginning to be motivated by orphans that they have never met and do not fully understand. What they do understand, is the fact that they have lived a very privileged life, and that’s good and right, but now they must go and serve the children of the earth that God is raising up to bring revival to the continent of Africa.
There are a few of us that are motivated by raising up a million orphan army, train them with Kingdom principles and watch them change the economic, governmental, social and spiritual climate right were they live. There will be 143 million orphans by 2010, the world will adopt less then 1% of them.
This is Tyler, Alexis, Michael and Caleb trying to shovel us out of being stuck the last two days. Their motivation; grandma’s house for presents tonight!
I think when there is less of us and more of Him, (not sure how you get there except surrender, crying out and finding the mystery He has for you), your motivations change.
When we want something bad enough, I really believe we will go and get it.
What motivates you?
WOW!!! THAT TOOK FOREVER! o man, shoveling snow.
