Continued from yesterday

The second day in the hospital they had an EKG done on my father… didn’t look good at all, so they did another; as my mother explained – “I could tell they were very concerned, but didn’t know what was wrong or how serious it was”.

Then my uncle Bill, mom and others laid hands on my dad and prayed. The third EKG showed total normality and they sent him home!

Dad is walking the dogs, wants to go back to the gym and is feisty has ever… while in the hospital, the nurse asked my mother, “Is he always like this”?!

Thanks for all the prayers and comments on yesterday’s blog… with the financial crises in America and the world, all of our family’s struggles, and living in a fallen world, remember:

Psalms 25:12-15 “Who, then, is the man that Fears the Lord? He will instruct him in the way chosen for him. He will spend his days in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land. The Lord Confides, (tells His secrets), in those that Fear Him; He makes His covenant known to them. My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only He will release my feet from the snare”.

Continue to press into God; He instructs, He releases prosperity, He takes care of your kids, He tells us His secrets if we Fear Him and He cares about an old bull rider named Dwayne Black! What a God we serve…

  1. Your experience has made me even more aware of our need to “redeem the time”, including the time, love and care I give to my aging parents. Take heart that God’s economy is not affected by headlines, a doctor’s prognosis or a Wall Street collapse! Chicken Little may say: “The sky is falling”, but actually, the sky is opening and the hand of God is reaching down for each of His children, to guide, protect, provide and defend us in the time of crisis.

    Psalm 126…A song of ascents.

1 When the LORD brought back the captives to Zion,
we were like men who dreamed.

2 Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
“The LORD has done great things for them.”

3 The LORD has done great things for us,
and we are filled with joy.

4 Restore our fortunes, O LORD,
    like streams in the Negev.

5 Those who sow in tears
will reap with songs of joy.

6 He who goes out weeping,
    carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
    carrying sheaves with him.

  2. So glad to hear your Dad is doing good and out of the hospital. I’m also glad to see he has a sense of humor.

    Psalm 138:8 NIV

The Lord WILL fulfill His purpose for Dwayne Black!!
Your love, O Lord, endures forever
do not abandon the works of your hands.

God bless you and your family.

  3. Great News!!
I didn’t think anything could keep him down long but tell him to take care of himself we want to see him in the future.

  5. a little behind on my blog reading…just caught up and am so glad to read this second one. silly doctors…of COURSE the praying did the “trick”! your dad isn’t going anywhere anytime soon…we need more teachings from him thru you. i’ve never met the man and know he’s incredible…

  6. Gary,
I’m rejoicing with you on the great report. I remember getting the call that my Hero had a massive heart attack. I boarded a plane to head to KC not knowing if I’d ever talk to my dad this side of heaven. God had mercy and healed him and I am still rejoicing today. So my heart is truly rejoicing with you.
