The Importance of
Holiday
Tyler Black
How
often as a society or even a family unit do we truly get to enjoy the
much needed and deserved time off from the chaos of our hectic world
and life’s? Well if we are all honest not that much or not as much as
we were intended to have. We think that if we take a holiday we won’t
be able to “get back on our feet,” or we will fall to behind with work
and school, or we will be disappointed. But think of all the time’s we
have pushed that aside and gone on vacation and truly enjoyed our
selves. I can name countless times of hunting trips with the Grandpa,
fishing trips with Dad, boogie boarding, sleeping in late, snowboarding
with the big and little brothers, being sun burned, flat tires, and the
list goes on.
Just
now the family and I are in Port Shepstone, South Africa! It is a very
relaxing slow paced town. It was to seem like we were about out of fuel
but than we have these great ways of being refueled. The daily outlook
has been fantastic. Wake up late, ponder around for awhile, make
breakfast at ten, and HIT THE BEACH at eleven. By the time we reach
home we are beat, but still we enjoy our wonderfully cooked meals,
monopoly games, and lying in bed listening to Frederic Chopin. It has
seemed as if I were in Heaven.
School here in
Swaziland will start back up on the 18th
of September and we will continue with our regular routine of school,
orphans, care points, sport, and other events but without those times
in life holiday would not be as much fun. So now back to reality for
me. I just had an amazing holiday and miraculous trip! But what about
the kids on the street just down the road from me? Did their daddy and
mommy come fetch them for a wonderful holiday? Mine did and I am sure
yours did at some point or you have taken your kid’s on a trip. So now
what can I tell them when they ask me “Where have you been the last two
weeks?” Although it’s a very hard question I will probably find some
great excuse to justify it and move on with my life. But these kids’s
don’t get to just move on. Let’s not forget them next time we do
something we think is “much needed”
I
love and miss all of you so much and can’t wait to see you again! I
hope wherever you are your doing well and staying fruitful. Honestly
please don’t forget to take holiday as it is very important and needed
in moderation. Whether you’re in Colorado, Thailand, Swaziland or maybe
Antarctica thanks for keeping us in your prayers and support lists. I
know even as a youngster, that without you we wouldn’t be here living’
the dream.
Cheers,
Tyler Black
