I once heard a Beth Moore study on Islam and the
influence of Muslims in the world today. The point was to understand
the issue from a biblical perspective, not to pass judgment, but to
discern truth.
Dr. Ergun Caner
and his brother
Emir Caner also contributed to the study. Here’s some notes from what I found out, and I hope you learn something new…

“The intention of our study today is to be biblical rather than political. Our
biblical understanding, however will lend insight to some of the political aspects
to holy war around the world today. Nothing is happening by surprise…”

Islam is the second largest religion behind Christianity and originates from Abraham’s first son Ishmael, born of the Sarah’s servant Hagar. Ishmael’s
descendants became Arabian nomads or Bedouins, and Ishmael was the leader of them.

In Genesis 25:12-18, the Bible talks about Ishmael’s descendants. There verses list the names of the sons of Ishmael. The genealogy of
Ishmael is the exact same genealogy as that of Isaac
(except for the mother). Ishmael had
12 sons, and at this point, Isaac didn’t have any sons. Ishmael wanted
to be the son of the promise and no matter how he hard he tried
to earn it, he couldn’t. His descendants – Muslims – are still trying to earn the favor of the Father.

Mohammed was born in 570 AD in the city of Mecca. Ishmael settled in Mecca (according to
Islam, at least, and we have nothing to refute it, so it could be true). Mohammed received revelations
starting in about 610 AD from Allah, but they were transmitted through the angel
Gabriel.

Muslims turned Jesus into a
prophet. John
14:16 says, “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another
counselor to be with you forever.” In verse 17, it tells you that counselor is the Spirit of Truth – God’s Spirit living inside Christians.

But they believe it is Muhammad.
Mormons teach the same thing about who they believe is their prophet! They have
twisted the truth. The word “Islam” actually means submission, or to submit oneself to the law. They are under the law, the written code.

Islam basically equals medieval Mormonism. Think about it – a “prophet” with the final revelation of God, sensual
goings-on in the next life, promises of prosperity, strict adherence to rules and regulations, and several other huge common denominators.

Dr. Ergon Caner was a Muslim. His father had three wives, and Ergon had 14 or 15 brothers and sisters. He lives in the USA, because of his father’s
business. Dr. Caner is a leading Christian apologist, but he was raised as a strict Muslim.

“In 51 debates,” he once said, “I have never met a Muslim that
believes Allah is the same as Jehovah.” They are not the same god! What’s interesting is that in political debates, many Muslims will say
they are the same, but in religious debates, they never say this.

Jehovah is the initiator of relationship. Allah is a god that demands submission. With Allah, there is no such thing as a Muslim having a personal
relationship with God. In Islam, there are 99 different names for God, and not one of them is personal. The
closest you will get is a name that means one “at your jugular.”

The Islamic conception of God is primarily based on fright, adherence,
submission. Caner’s father had to disown him, because otherwise he would have
gotten the death penalty.

  1. It’s true the God of the Bible says vengence will be His. But you need to look at the bible as a metanarrative or “the big story”. Look back at Abraham. Abraham was a pagan man who did not worship the one true God. But through him Yahweh promised a great nation from which His promise for redemption (The Messiah) Isa. 53, Ps 22, Micah 5:2, Isa 7:14, …. would come. And when Yahweh made his covenant by splitting a heifer, goat, and a ram all three years old, in half to walk through them notice in Gen. 15:17 God was the only party in the covenant to walk through. God had to keep His covenant because He was the only one that made it and demonstrated His keeping of it. If I was God, my bible would be only as thick as the book of Genesis haha Because of my fierce anger at my creation, I would have just quit and started over as I know all of us would. But God pursued Abraham anyway, a pagan man. All of Gods actions and words all point to a big picture of redemption and forgiveness and promise and love. Where as Allah is the false God of Islam who demands to be worshipped at no questions or answers. Yahweh and Allah are VERY different. One rules with fear as his means (just like that of an earthly dictator such as Sadam Husein, or Hitler) and the other, Yahweh rules with love and mercy, and grace, and compassion for His people. He’s the only God who gave His only begotten Son to save His people. What has Allah done for you? Why should you worship Allah? Why should you ever believe that a pefect God could ever be with such imperfect people without some means of atonement so that we may gain righteousness. That makes no sense.

  2. “Islam basically equals medieval Mormonism?” Are you serious? This is insulting to anyone’s intelligence. It’s time people actually study and research world religions so as to avoid claims like this one.

Also, Yahweh and Allah ARE THE SAME. God is God, no matter what earthly label we give Him!

  3. @ Concerned Christian and anyone who thinks Allah and the God of the Bible (Christianity) are the same. The nature of the God revealed in the Bible shows that He is triune, meaning He exists in three persons (Father, Spirit, Son) yet He is still one God. Christianity is a historic religion which means that this doctirne of the trinity has been an essestial to understanding the theology proper of Christianity, historically. To argue with this is argue with thousands of years of Christianity. Well, now lets look at the god (small “g”) revealed in the Koran. Allah is not triune at all. He knows nothing of existing in three persons yet remaining only one being. They are not the same God at all! The true God had a plan of redemption by sending the third part of the trinity, the Son, to the earth to die for the sins of those who would believe in Him. Allah just apparently unjustly let’s people into his false heaven. Radically different in nature….two completely different thoughts. One is God the other is not. One is just, Allah is not. One is merciful, gracious, loving, triune, transcendent yet immanent, and the other is not.

  4. From the Bible:

Prov 1:7: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.
Prov 9:10: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
Ex 20:3: You shall have no other gods before me.
Deut 6:1: These are the commands, decrees and laws the LORD your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.
Deut 6:5: Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

Seems like there is a considerable amount of “fright, adherence, submission” in the Bible, too.

  5. galations 5v1 :”it is for freedom that christ has set us free”.
There is no fear of being punished by man for not following Jesus. Each of us has our own free will to make decisions in our lives for ourselves.Only when we do not obey the gospel will we be punished at the final judgment.

  6. So much confusion with religion.
Unless you have half doubted your faith you have only have believed.

Individuals born into a religion have a great disadvantage, for their eyes are more clouded then one who seeks his faith within his or hers spiritual heart.

Why do so many people immigrate to countries that were developed on Christian principles???

  7. I have to agree with Charles on this, there is plenty of submission in christianity–a lot more than in judaism anyway. The idea of submission just shows discipline anyway. Talking so derogatorily about Muslim believes is hypocritical. How can you say Allah rules with fear? Allah does not interfere with the created world according to Islam… The idea of hell sounds pretty fear inducing, Christians. And Yahweh is DEFINATELY NOT compassionate! I have been to one Jewish service in my life and the story that we read talked about Yahweh telling the Jews to murder some group of people–all the men, women, and children–in order to rid themselves of the groups influence. Does that sound compassionate to you?

  8. wow this is serious is it polite to say islam is a forced religion
y really do pple kill all in d name of religion
ishmael and muhammed who is older
if muhammed it means islam had been in existence even b4 muhammed meaning maybe he came across d book of ishmael or in contact with him then he went to d mountain or hill to study abt it there he came across angel gabriel

just an assumption am sori if its not lyk dat just visualising how it all came abt

  9. Pachad – Fear
    Dread
    Terror
    To be startled

Yare – To stand in awe
    Reverence
    Respect
Recognizing the power and position of God and giving Him proper respect.

In the Hebrew language (the language the Old Testament was written in) there were TWO words, but in the English language there is only one word – fear.

The fear they are referring to in this case is the YARE…. not meant to SCARE! lol (just a little humor, but still truth 😉 )

  10. my name is siaeeda a christian converted to islam al hamdulillah your books made me laugh MR Craner thank you at least for that, anyway you are just weading the garden, here are a few verses to put in your next book thomas 114: simon peter said ” make mary leave for females don’t deserve life” jesus replied “look, i will guide her to make her male so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you MALES. for every female who makes herself male will enter heaven”

thomas 105: jesus says “whoever knows mother and father will be the child of a whore”

    matthew 22:23-33
and i encourage him and all christians to actually follow this verse especially matthew 19 10-12, there is no earthly punishment for a muslim woman not to cover her hair however it says in the bible that if a christian woman doesn’t you must shave her hair, or look at genesis,

he speaks about muslim woman being oppressed look at your own their bodies and beauty are being flaunted and used, let me tell you i am up for a debate with you as you sound very easy and sounds like fun, you twist the words, why don’t you say how the woman used to argue with the prophet (saws) or how he said be kind to the woman they were made from adams rib if you straighten it it will snap and if you leave it it will remain bent so be kind to the woman, also you didn’t finish the hadeeth quotes which would really have undone you probably why!!! mohammed saws says o muslims it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your woman but they also have rights over you, remeber you have taken wives only under gods trust and HIS permission, it would be too long to note all the contradictions in the bible here, is that what you want us to believe in a god who can even add up??? bible says eve tempted adam and so everything is her fault, qur’an says they both sinned they both asked for forgiveness they both were forgiven and nobody is accountable for someone elses sins even for their parents sins, the earth was already made before god made adam intentding it for him, evangelists are so confused, i can help you, follow jesus and become a muslim.

  11. thank you,

the problem i find is that people judge others before they judge themselves jesus says in the bible in several places why look at the silver (metal) in your friends eye but not the timber in your own, first remove the timber and then help your friend with his metal.

there will always be extremists, my grandparents are protestants from northern ireland and i had to grow up in the time of the bombimgs i was there when they bombed colereine over 20 people died, jesus never went to war so what sort of christians are these, jihad is an inner struggle to better yourself to give as much charity and be a better person, the problem is people don’t look into their own religion, if they did they would find a lot of wrong in their own actions.

  12. please who was jesus talking about in these verses:

    john 14:30
    john 15:26-27
    john 16:7-16
he says his message isn’t finished they weren’t ready for it, but ANOTHER advocate will come. what is an advocate? it doesn’t matter jesus calls himself an advocate so another like him will come and correct you and finish what he started then he will return. he says this quite clearly, he couldn’t have been talking about john the baptist as harrod had already killed him.

in mattew mark and luke jesus calls himself son of ADAM never son of god and they are all just different versions of the same event some spiced up to get noticed which is very obvious, logic dictates that if something as wonderful as angels flying down etc it would be something they all remembered but only one said this. whenever anyone called him son of god he told them to shut up and not say it again. each version of jesus’ death in the bible is completely different and also if you read it jesus didn’t die on the cross. jesus says i give you only the miracle of jonah as he spent 3 days and nights in the belly of the whale so shall i be in the belly of the earth, jonah was alive when thrown from the boat alive when the fish swallowed him he spent 3 days and nights praying (so had to be alive) and alive when he was spat out on the shore so if jesus had died he would have been a liar, pontious pilote was suprised he had died so soon and ordered his legs be broken so he couldn’t get away (he didn’t believe he was dead just passed out especially as jesus just asked god to take his sufferering, mary went early to check on jesus (she saw signs of life) jesus had to have lived or his prophecy wouldn’t come true, he even says to mary i have not yet rissen to our father, he shows his hands to companions as they had HEARD he had died and were scared he said feel me i am not dead, he then went and ate with them, a ghost could not do that. go through your own book,

  13. jesus calls out eloh (spelt alah) on the cross he was calling out to allah, yahweh is no where in any religious book, so i suggest you have followed ibliss’ whispers and are now blind to jesus’ god and yours

  14. mohammed(saws) came after abraham in 600ad where the bible by the confessions of the christians scholars and history show had already been distorted and changed, most of it especially if you read luke which by his own admissions was written well after the death of jesus and just from hearsay. islam comes from the word salam meaning peace.

  15. pagans confused, mr derosse, i don’t have to defend Allah, he is already punishing you look at your country, look at your people, judgement day is near…. your belief in 3 fake gods none of whom can add up none of whom can write a tangable book as there are over 7000 contradictions maybe they didn’t bring their head together to write it lol. your gods need to sacrifice an innocent being to suffer him to be able to forgive people, what type of a god is that, oh and most of your religion come from pagan beliefs easter is actually the brish pagans festival of life where they went to fornicate, christmas is there celebration for the return of the sun, as jesus was born in summer time. jesus refused wine saying if i drink it here i will not taste it in heaven yet YOU as in christians drink it. jesus was circumcised on the 8th day, christian men are not, muslims are more christian than christian as we love and follow the teachings of jesus, not some satanic pagan from rome named paul who hated jesus and christians and whos sole perpose was to take people from christianity he did so by twisting jesus’ words which is why he contradicts jesus’ teachings. Allah says no one is burdened with someone elses sins, we all have equal chance to earn heaven even the poor, at least islam is truth and as jesus says knowledge is light which means your in complete darkness with a blindfold. islam will bring you to the light.

  16. Check Genesis 16, 21 when Gabriel promises hager that Ismail will have a great nation whose hands would be against every one( bad peoples). so when bible declares Ismail nation would be a great nation. how can you deny islam then u r not a christian , if you are a christian believer u have to bow down in front of allah in its religion islam which he declared already. 18. Hi, Siaeeda. I must say you are very knowledgeable about Jesus and of course Mohammed which is very cool. I wanted to add to your point about knowledge, you said that Jesus said ‘ knowledge is the light’ which is true. The prophet Mohammed said one ‘Acquire knowledge. It enables its possessor to distinguish right from wrong; it lights the way to Heaven; it is our friend in the desert, our society in solitude, our companion when friendless; it guides us to happiness; it sustains us in misery; it is an ornament among friends, and an armor against enemies.”

Knowledge is key to school, to understand, it is key to life. In order for us as humans to have peace, we must first have knowledge with ourselves. Knowledge is respect, lets give it a try.

Siaseeda Allah has a good helper in you. May god bless you with knowledge and wisdom in your life. God bless

  19. Am so glad you wrote. I am a Christian but I was horrified at the video and comments made by Caner. Such ignorance. I have a hard time now having much respect for LIfeway or Beth Moore. Such ignorance and to put it out there like she did. What does Islam have to do with Osama Bin Ladin – rediculous stuff. Makes me more sad than anything.

  20. I always have a notion that the tribes of Ishmael have always been jealous of the ‘chosen’ race of God.They were a mistake on Abraham’s part and although God still upheld His blessings on Abraham, Isaac and his descendants were still God’s choice.
However, the love story for mankind continued with Jesus as the vital link for ALL to be able to come to God (because He loves us).

In Jesus, we are all HIS children. That’s why Jesus iS the ONLY WAY.

If only we all can see this, there will be more peace in the world.
