I have this amazing dog, Joey. We originally named him Elvis, but my wife was convicted and renamed him Joseph Elijah Black, or Joey!

Joey is a Lhasa Apso, you need to understand I have always had big dogs and never thought I would own a dog you could drop kick across the room, (Just Kidding). We have fallen in love with our Joseph Elijah.

Lhasa Apso’s were bred to protect the inside of the palaces of Tibet. The Wolf Hounds would protect the gates and these little creatures would run around the palace and warn everybody of any coming intrusion, wake everyone up, and take on anything that would potentially hurt the King. They are also known for a disgusting habit of cleaning the feet of the King by licking them, now that’s a servant!!

Not only does Joey protect the inside of our home, he never leaves my feet. We know if there is anything going on outside, if any one is coming up the driveway, this is the best watchdog we have ever had. (This is saying a lot as I was raised with trained Doberman’s, Rot’s and German Shepard’s, my dad loved big mean dogs)!

Joey sleeps at the bottom of our bed right at my feet. Last night I could not sleep and went into the living room to pray. He was right at my feet. If I walk and pray, he sits on the chair and watches me walk back and fourth. Right now as I write this story, he is laying at my feet… I love it and it’s where I want to be!!
