This video is a bit humbling but King David’s phrase kept going through my mind – “I will be even more undignified than this!”

As many of you know we have been in a battle over our work permits for most of last year. At our first G42 African church plant on
Easter Sunday a couple of princes the chiefs brothers joined us. After
the service we had the privilege of having lunch with them. Andrew Shearman
shared his passion with them of how he felt about the Blacks being
thrown out of the country. The princes and chiefs said nothing but the
next morning at 6 AM I received a phone call…

The
king has many wives but the first wife, Lambikiza, is the most
important. Her sister and the first son, Prince Lindani, called and
asked Lisa and me to join them for lunch. We were invited to be the
prince’s personal guests the next day.

The next morning we found
ourselves driving in the prince’s convoy – Mercedes and flashing lights
included – driving to speaking engagements and
assemblies. Swazi TV and newspapers joined in the parade throughout our
time with interviews and photographs. It ended for me with a 3 hour sit
down meeting with the prince and the king’s regiment.

The prince and I
talked about American politics and education. He asked what I thought
would save his nation. And then he said, “You must meet my father the
king. But first we must initiate you into the royal regiment. Can you
meet us on saturday morning?” Of course, as this is my life’s message,
I didn’t hesitate.

I
am now a part of the Inkanyeti regiment. Of the seven main regiments it
is the highest in the Kingdom of Swaziland and respected throughout
Africa. Of course I asked if I could bring one of my spiritual sons
with me. So Matthew Best joined
me in this Swazi initiation. My new name is Mlashi, which mean
“Employer.” And Matt’s new name is Unfanagisa – “looks like Christ the
King.” Now I am able to see and sit with the king next week.

This
battle over our work permit has been frustrating. Our situation has not
changed but we are hopeful. God is in every thing and now I know why.
One of the keys to the nation of Swaziland, and I believe the most
important, is the men. The Lord showed me that if we come in humility
to build strong relationships and infiltrate these regiments we can
bring the Kingdom of heaven into the very heart of this land. We need
to show them we want to serve and embrace them as men. As people of the
west we can’t come with answers. We need to get in the mud with them.

Please enjoy the video and please give me grace.
