How does God separate business, ministry, and friendships, from serving the poor? In His mind, do you think there is a difference in the way He loves you if you are closing a sale, running an accounting firm, or answering phone calls. Is it any different to Him if you are preaching from the stage, feeding the poor, going on a mission’s trip, or having a nice dinner with friends?
Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed”.
I guess this means that whatever the Lord has called you to, whatever it is that He has asked you to do on the earth, “commit” to it all the way. If you have been called to be a business executive, a janitor, a pastor, a stay at home mom, writer, whatever “it” is.
He is the one that has put in your heart, do it with all your strength, and find the joy of the Lord in your work.
Lisa and I were in London all week with my parents. Whether I was in business meetings with Russians, the Chinese, and CEO’s of oil companies or riding the tourist bus or enjoying the locals at a pub with my wife, we committed it all to the Lord.
Towards the end of our trip the CEO of one of the largest companies in the world, pulled my dad and I out of one of our meetings to speak privately to us.
He told us he had looked at our websites and had seen our work with orphans, and the poor.
He expressed his desire to take a portion of everything we make together in the energy and oil world and pour it into our work with those in need all over the world! While Lisa and I were sitting in a pub one night, we began ministering to the bar tender; a young Polish man that
needed a touch from the Lord. We told him how God sees him, prayed a strong prayer and prophesied over his life.
He was visibly changed and refreshed after the prayer and kept offering to buy us drinks, as thanks for the evening.
Isaiah 55:2 “Why spend your money on what is not bread and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me and eat what is good and your soul will delight in the richest of fare”.
Remember no matter what you are called to, what you “commit” to do, you cannot forget James 1:27, it is not a request…
