One of the many things I love about partnering with Adventures in Missions is the people… we have hundreds of new missionaries coming through all the time, and as a family, we get to minister to the staff of AIM at the different bases around the world. These are people that have given their lives to serve the needs of the widow and orphan around the globe; you don't find people like this everyday!

Our base in Jeffery's Bay, South Africa is full of these kinds of people. They are educated, brilliant and sophisticated men and women. Each has walked away from big carriers, a lot of money, or major ministry opportunities in the States to serve the forgotten of Africa. Chris and Christina Via, Tag and Holly, and all the leaders and teams there are top-notch, some of the best you can find…

J-Bay (as the locals call it) is on the Eastern Cape. So, the beauty and devastation go hand-and-hand. I have been a lot of places around the world, but have never experienced the breath-taking scenery and heart-breaking poverty all in one place.

Right in J-Bay you can walk down to some of the most amazing beaches in the world; walk a few minutes more and pick 4 and 5 year olds out of the gutter that have been sniffing glue or sucking on exhaust pipes all night; walk to a shanty town full of disease, poverty, sewage, God's children dieing right in front of you; walk to a 5 star restaurant on the beach, in the sand and eat seafood that was caught that day - it is beauty and devastation living and dieing together, all within a 10 minute walk!

Our kids love it in J-Bay - they love the ministry, the people, but especially the beach!

Tyler holding up Noah up top, it took Caleb all of about 5 minutes to start riding the waves, this is Alexis with Christina Via surfing for Jesus! And Tyler and Michael thinking a pro surfers life could be in the cards... Work hard and play hard…
